Tonight’s Golden Knights vs Jets matchup features two teams that are in the top-four in their respective divisions in the Western Conference. Winnipeg sits in third place in the Central Division, while Vegas is in fourth place in the Pacific. Both teams are almost locked into the postseason at this point, but a win here would do a lot from a momentum perspective as the postseason rapidly approaches.
Going into this matchup, the Golden Knights have not looked anything like the team that stormed to the top of the mountain by winning the Stanley Cup Final a season ago. Vegas has been terrible on the road this season, losing the majority of their games outside of the desert. The Knights shouldn’t miss out on the playoffs due to these road woes, but their struggles to win games on the road could cost them in this matchup.
Meanwhile, Winnipeg has been doing some losing of their own, as they enter this game on a four-game losing streak. The Jets have given up four or more goals in three of those four straight losses, including their most recent loss, a 4-3 home loss to the Edmonton Oilers. Winnipeg will hope that the struggles of the Golden Knights will help them to overcome their recent issues to get the Jets back into the win column.
